Yes, that’s the first piece I checked out when I saw that, Kim. LOL Meant to be. ^^ I always look at life a few degrees off from center, anyway, so I appreciate visionaries and mildly twisted/unusual thoughtscapes. Thanks for the heads up, Johnny, and I’m glad you got to take in some of the festival. :-)

Thanks for introducing me to such an awesome city, man. :-) It’s easy to see why so many people are trying to move there. :-) The hostel I stayed at was full of them–folks looking for rooms/apartments and jobs. Lots of people trying to move out from (or *escape,* more like LOL) L.A. and different areas. If not for you and the boys blowin’ the place up, odds are I may never have gotten my tail feathers down there. Now, I’m sure I’ll be back, again, because I love the people so much. :-) Never mind the gorgeous architecture, the incredible gardens, theaters, bookstores, markets and everything else, it’s the people that make the city. :-) I love how environmentally conscious they are, too. Everything’s recycled; excellent mass transit; strong environmental protection policies; healthy, active lifestyles and everyone is so happy and friendly. The way I’ve been explaining it is that even people that would be scary in other cities aren’t that bad, in Portland. LOL I did see lots of homeless folks, junkies and some true characters late at night, but, somehow, they weren’t as dark and dangerous as they can be in other parts of the world. Everyone kept telling me how safe Portland is and I don’t know if I saw a piece of litter on the ground the whole time I was in the city. People, there, love their city and want to keep it in good shape–wish everyone rocked that vibe. :-)

It’s definitely a place that’s chock full of creative types, too, yes. I met people working in the film industry, artists and all kinds of neat folks just in the few days I was there. Heard about some neighborhoods that are still in ‘grunge’/bohemian mode that I’d probably enjoy, with everyone from painters, to sculptors, musicians and artistic souls.

I made friends with some of the cab drivers, too, and I’m sure they would have taken me all over the place, if I was staying longer. They told me about some of the areas where they’ve kept/restored all the historic homes, but painted the bricks bright colors to make them even more beautiful, and things like that. I would like to walk through the Japanese and Classical Chinese Gardens, too. Loved the International Rose Test Garden. They could just build me a summer cottage on the lawn, there, and I’d be perfectly happy. LOL ;-)
